This is just a holding page, but there's no doubt that if cooking was one of the first great human innovations, clothing was a close second. Both derive from need: cooking from the protein and calorie intake needed to sustain these abnormally big brains; fashion from the concomitant hairlessness and need for protection/adaptation in different environments. Both these vulnerabilities became virtues, and arise from the same evolutionary moment when we retained many childhood characterists of other primates (big eyes, hairlessness, relatively large heads) which come under the banner of neotony.
Part of the inspiration for this strand comes from Linda Grant's The Thoughtful Dresser and Marcos and Peter's own soreal tribute/takedown to or of the fashion world, Mrs Gucci. But more on this later.
